Philip T. Neisser
Dr. Neisser, Chair of the Department of Politics, first came to Potsdam as an undergraduate student in 1975. His interest in politics led him to attend graduate school, first at Georgetown and then at UMASS Amherst. In 1984 he found himself back in Potsdam once again, this time working on his dissertation and teaching part-time. He finally finished his degree from UMASS in 1989 and joined the ranks of the full-time faculty at Potsdam.
Currently Dr. Neisser teaches in the areas of political theory, democratic theory, political economy, and welfare policy. He is the author of /United We Fall/ (Praeger, 2008), along with numerous published essays, book chapters, and opinion pieces. He is also the co-editor of T/ales of the State/ (Rowman and Littlefield, 1997). And he is now writing a new book,/ Six Conversations: A Conservative and a Leftist go Toe-to-Toe, and Stay Friends/, with co-author Jacob Z. Hess.
In the year 2000, Dr. Neisser received a SUNY Potsdam Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching.
