James R. Spadafore is a 1978 Graduate of SUNY at Buffalo where he received his BFA/MFA in Music Education. While at Buffalo Mr. Spadafore was a student of Allen Siegal, Edward Yazdinski and John Sedola. In 1978 Liverpool Central Schools employed James as a middle/elementary instrumental teacher. In 1992 Mr. Spadafore was transferred to Liverpool High School where he taught the Liverpool Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, and small ensembles until his retirement in 2012.
Under his direction the Symphonic Band performed at the 1996 NYSSMA winter conference, the 1997 and 2006 New York Sate School Band Directors Association Symposium, the 1998 Mid West Band and Orchestra Clinic, the 2002 and 2006 Bands Of America National Concert Festival and The 2011 Mid Atlantic Honor Band Festival at Rutgers University.
The Liverpool High School Jazz Ensemble has performed with such jazz artists as The New York Voices, John Pizzarelli, Joey DeFrancesco, Terrance Blanchard, Jane Monhiet, and The Count Basie Orchestra.
As a free lance musician James has performed with the likes of Marvin Hamlish, Natalie Cole, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra jr., Ben Vareen, Bob Hope, The Spinners, Frankie Valle and the Four Seasons, the Four Tops and the Temptations. As a pit musician, Mr. Spadafore has performed with the national touring companies of City of Angels, The King And I, Chorus Line, Peter Pan, Big, Chicago, The Producers, Hairspray, Spamalot and Wicked.
